Project Canoe

Who We Are/Our Mission

We partner with youth facing barriers to create experiences rooted in the outdoors. Our programs foster learning, confidence and transformation.

Project Canoe provides youth with barrier-free opportunities to build self-esteem, self-awareness, and self-love through the power of educational and therapeutic outdoor programming. Leveraging the inherently therapeutic power of outdoor spaces, our programs are intentionally designed to support youth in recognizing and building on their own unique strengths, forming meaningful social connections, and raising their perceived limits of what they are capable of. We focus on youth that would otherwise be unable to participate due to barriers they face in their lives. These barriers may be social, emotional, behavioural, learning or, and most oftenly, economic barriers. We believe all young people should have the chance to experience the many benefits of canoe tripping and therapeutic programming regardless of their economic situation. Our services are all based around outdoor programming including 5, 8 and 14 day canoe trips during the summer and year round urban programs facilitated throughout the GTA.

DBSA Funding Allotments

Financial support from Dolphin Gaming goes into integral parts of our barrier-free, outdoor-based programs at Project Canoe. Funds are allocated to Canoe Trip Leader salaries, park fees, transportation fees, equipment purchase and repair costs. Having these costs covered by this funding allow us to provide our services without any financial restraints to youth and their families. Last year we were able to subsidize 91% of youth in our programs with the help of Dolphin Gaming.
